Day 1

Zanzibar International Airport – Stone Town

Arrive at Zanzibar Island, meet our driver and transfer to Stone Town.

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania in East Africa. It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometres (16–31 mi) off the coast of the mainland, and consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja (the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar) and Pemba Island. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre is Stone Town, which is a World Heritage Site. Overnight at the Hotel.

Stone Town – Matemwe Beach

Breakfast and transfer to the north-east of Zanzibar Island, Matemwe Beach.

Matemwe is the northernmost beach on the north-east coast of Zanzibar and has remained reasonably intimate compared to more built up and westernised destinations to the south. The beach offers fine white sands and remains reasonably unspoiled. As with all beaches on the northern coast (except Pongwe) swimming is impossible at low tide and the beach becomes an extensive desert of coral flats. Meals and overnight at the Beach Resort.
