7 Days Shira Route – Kilimanjaro Trekking

7 Days

The Shira Route is one of Kilimanjaro’s lesser-used and more scenic approaches, beginning on the western side of the mountain. Starting at the Shira Plateau (approximately 3,500–4,000m), this trek is ideal for acclimatized climbers and offers sweeping views of Mount Meru and the Great Rift Valley. The route traverses varied landscapes—forests, grasslands, and alpine deserts—before connecting with the Southern Circuit, leading toward the summit via either the Western Breach or Barafu Route. Due to the rapid gain in altitude, this route is recommended for experienced trekkers who have already acclimatized.
