Oldonyo Lengai (2870 meters or 9,450 ft), located south of Lake Natron in the eastern Rift Valley of northern Tanzania, is an active volcano known as the “Mountain of God” by the local Maasai people. The volcano’s nearly perfect cone shape and its occasional eruptions make it a fascinating destination for adventurous trekkers. The trek offers the unique opportunity to walk on freshly formed lava and witness the geological wonders of this active volcano. The summit provides a panoramic view of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Natron, and the surrounding wilderness. Oldonyo Lengai lies about 137 km from Arusha, a 3-hour drive from the main road between Arusha and Ngorongoro.
