Dar es Salaam – Mwanza, Lake Victoria
Pick up from the hotel and transfer to the airport for the flight to Mwanza, Lake Victoria.

Day 4
Mwanza – Saanane Island National Park
Pick up from the hotel, take a boat to Saanane Island, lunch at the camp in the park.
The island was named after Mzee Saanane Chawandi, a local farmer and fisherman. In 1964 the Government established Tanzania's first ever zoo here. The objective was to promote conservation education and to provide recreation to the people of Mwanza. Established in 2013, Saanane covers an area of 2.18 square kilometres. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Full Day Saanane Island National Park
A full day exploring Saanane Island National Park.
The park made a record of being the first ever national park to be located within a city and the smallest national park in East Africa. The park is home to mammals like impala, rock hyrax, vervet monkeys and wild cats. The presence of the De Brazza's monkey underscores its potential as the only park in the country inhabiting the species. Reptiles are also dominant; they include crocodiles, monitor lizards, agama lizards, pancake and leopard tortoises, and snakes, particularly python. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Full Day Saanane Island National Park
A second full day exploring Saanane Island National Park, with birding, fishing and nature walks.
