Safari · Calving Season

Half a Million Births in Six Weeks

Between late January and March the migration settles on the short-grass plains of Ndutu in the southern Serengeti, and around 500,000 wildebeest calves are born in a matter of weeks. It is the densest concentration of newborn prey anywhere on earth — and every predator in the ecosystem knows it.

This itinerary flies you straight in from Arusha to save a day of driving, gives you two full days in Ndutu, then moves north to Seronera before finishing with a half-day safari on the Ngorongoro Crater floor.

  • Peak calving season on the Ndutu short-grass plains
  • Exceptional cheetah, lion and hyena activity
  • Fly-in start — no long transfer day
  • Half-day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater
