The Coastal & Islands Zone of Tanzania stretches along the Indian Ocean, offering a unique blend of vibrant cultural heritage, stunning beaches, and rich marine life.

This zone is an exceptional fusion of nature, history, and adventure, from the bustling urban energy of Dar es Salaam to the serene island escapes of Zanzibar, Mafia, and Bagamoyo.

Zanzibar, renowned for its historical significance as a trading hub and its beautiful beaches, offers visitors a chance to experience Swahili culture, spice plantations, and coral reefs.

Mafia Island, a quieter alternative, is famous for its marine life, especially the opportunity to swim with whale sharks.

Bagamoyo, a coastal town with centuries of history, reveals its colonial past through ancient ruins and cultural sites. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city, serves as a gateway to the islands, offering a mix of urban life, traditional Swahili culture, and easy access to the surrounding coast and islands.

Zanzibar Island
