Overview
The Machame Route, also known as the Whisky Route, is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Kilimanjaro. This popular route takes trekkers through magnificent forests, across a ridge, and into moorland zones leading to the Shira Plateau. It then traverses beneath the glaciated Southern Ice Fields to join the Barafu Route to the summit. Due to the longer trekking duration and more gradual incline, this route offers a higher summit success rate.
