Travel (Airport Pickup)

Your adventure with Africa Wandering Peak Safaris begins as soon as you land in Arusha. Prepare yourself for a journey that will change your perspective on the world!

Arrival in Arusha, Tanzania

Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation, where a warm meal awaits you. Settle into your new home-away-from-home, whether it’s a cosy hotel room or a dormitory-style mobile tent, with accommodations thoughtfully separated by gender. Take some time to relax and familiarize yourself with your surroundings.

Orientation

Begin your journey by getting to know your facilitators and fellow travellers. Together, you’ll explore the itinerary, establish trip goals and expectations, and review the guidelines to ensure a safe and enriching experience.

Day 1: Community Engagement

One of the most impactful moments of your trip will be your first visit to the local community, where you’ll be contributing your time and energy. Guided by our knowledgeable facilitators and a Maasai Warrior, you’ll tour the community’s development projects. Over the next few days, you’ll become more than just a visitor—you’ll be embraced as part of the community, working alongside them toward common goals.

Swahili Lessons

Immerse yourself in the local culture by learning basic Swahili. Daily practice sessions will help you confidently communicate with the community, enriching your experience.

Discussions and Leisure Time

In the afternoons and evenings, you’ll have opportunities to delve into discussions about Tanzania’s rich culture and heritage. This time also offers a chance to contribute to a project aligned with one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). And, of course, there will be plenty of moments reserved for fun and relaxation!

DAY 2: Water Walk

Step into the shoes of a local mama as you accompany her on a walk to a nearby water source. This eye-opening experience will deepen your understanding of the challenges local families face in accessing clean water. Together, we’ll explore solutions to this pressing issue.

Boma Smearing

Participate in the traditional practice of Boma Smearing, where you’ll help repair local homes made of natural materials like cow dung, mud, ashes, and sticks. Learn from the community members and contribute to maintaining these essential shelters.

DAY 3: Market Visit

Dive into the vibrant life of a rural Tanzanian market. Explore the diverse array of goods and experience daily life in the community. It’s also a perfect opportunity to practice your Swahili in real-world settings!

Beading with Maasai Mamas

Meet a local Maasai mama who will introduce you to the intricate art of beading, a tradition passed down through generations. Try your hand at creating your own beaded piece and enjoy a cup of lemongrass tea as you exchange stories about family traditions.

Maasai Storytelling

As night falls and the stars illuminate the sky, gather around the campfire for an evening of traditional Maasai storytelling. Listen as your Maasai Warrior guide shares tales of Maasai culture and his personal journey.

Day 4: Hiking & Maasai Warrior Training

Embark on a serene hike with your Maasai Warrior guide, followed by a unique opportunity to train in the use of traditional Maasai weapons. Embrace your inner warrior and engage in this authentic cultural experience.

Final Celebration Dinner

As your journey draws to a close, join your fellow travelers for a celebratory dinner. Reflect on the impact you’ve made and the changes you’ve witnessed. There’s a special surprise awaiting you on this memorable night!

Reintegration and Reflection

End the evening by reflecting on your experiences with the guidance of your facilitators. Discuss the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and prepare for re-integration into life back home after this life-changing adventure.

DAY 5: Safari

Conclude your Tanzanian adventure with an exhilarating safari through the iconic plains. Keep your eyes peeled for the “Big 5”—Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards, and Rhinos. Capture the moment, enjoy the breathtaking scenery, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
